The longest hole on the course still offers the truly big hitters the chance to pound their ball onto the green in two and seek eagle. Recent work has moved the fairway more to the left, away from the out of bounds fence beyond which lies the road back to Strensall on the right. But the narrowed fairway means that most mere mortals have to play with great care to avoid trouble and leave a reasonably short third to another well-bunkered green which slopes significantly to the right.
