General Terms of Competitions

Eligibility and Handicapping

You are eligible to enter competitions if you are an amateur playing female member of the Club, provided you hold a Handicap Index under the World Handicap System.

Note: Junior Girls holding a Handicap Index, are treated as full members for the purposes of eligibility for Ladies’ competitions.

Eligibility Requirements are detailed on YGC website – Information – Terms of Competitions – Eligibility Requirements

Ladies are responsible for checking their own handicaps on their cards.

General terms of competition

1.  Before playing in the competition, all competitors must check in with the Professional’s shop and obtain a scorecard. Generally entry fees are taken at check in, occasionally on sign up.

2.   Unless otherwise stated, competitors may play outside the tee times reserved on the day of the competition (but not before 7.00am - see point 4. below). They must book a tee time on IG before play on IG and advise the competitions team. They do not have any priority on the course. Such competitors must play with a marker and the marker must be a member of the Club and hold a Handicap Index.

3.   Any competitor who books a starting time for a competition and then does not turn up at the due time without notifying her playing partners and, if possible, removing their name from IG, may be suspended from subsequent competitions under the Club’s “No-shows” policy.

4.   Play may not commence before 7.00am in any competition. This is to enable the greens staff to prepare the course so that all competitors play the same course.

5.  On completion of their round, competitors should enter their scores on the computer scoring system. All competitors must then deposit their scorecard in the official scorecards box; at this point they are deemed to have returned the card and no changes can be made to it.

6.   The results of the competition will be processed by the Ladies Competitions Team and published on the Club website; at this point the competition is closed and the results are final.

7.   The use of a buggy (ie. a ride-on motorised vehicle) is not permitted during the competition, unless the competitor has submitted medical evidence that she needs to use a buggy and has received written notification from the Managing Secretary that she is certified to use a buggy in competitions (in which case the buggy will be for the sole use of the competitor herself and her own equipment) Two players with certifications may share a buggy.
