Mixed Invitation Day Rules

Competition eligibility

1. You are eligible to enter this competition if you are:

• a playing male or female member of the Club with amateur status (excluding 5 day and weekday members) aged 18 or over on the date of the competition, provided you hold a Handicap Index under the World Handicap System, or
• a Junior member, provided you hold a Handicap Index of 28.6 or below. However, such junior members may enter only if places are available three weeks after online booking of tee times has commenced, and only in the same team as an adult Club member.

2. In addition to holding a Handicap Index, you must have submitted a minimum of three Acceptable Scores during the previous 12 months prior to the date of the competition. An Acceptable Score is a score for a round played in accordance with the Rules of Golf, in an authorised format of play, with at least one other person who also has a Handicap Index, on a course with a current Course Rating and Slope Rating. Authorised formats of play include all individual qualifying competitions, and pre-registered "social scores" in General Play, whether they are played at YGC or elsewhere.

3. Guests must be members of a recognised golf club and must also hold a Handicap Index, evidence of which may be required.

4. Play to be in teams of four, consisting of two men and two ladies. Each team must include two members and two guests.

Competition format

1. Mixed Stableford over 18 holes. Men to play off the white tees and stroke indices, ladies off the red tees and stroke indices.

2. Each competitor’s Playing Handicap (for the purpose of deciding the competition’s results) will be 85% of his/her Course Handicap.

3. The aggregate of the best man’s score and the best lady’s score (Stableford points) to count on each hole apart from the 16th, where the aggregate of ALL scores will count. The relevant gross scores must be recorded for each hole.

4. The Prize Presentation will take place as soon as possible after the completion of play. It is anticipated that this will be no later than 7.30pm. The two York Golf Club members of any prize-winning team are expected to attend the Prize Presentation. Failure to do so may result in the prize being awarded to the next team in line.

Procedure in the event of ties

All ties will be resolved on the last 9 - 6 - 3 - 1 holes. (Should this still result in a tie, scores for the last 10 - then 11 then 12 and so on - holes will be counted until a result is achieved.)

General competition rules

1. Before playing in the competition, all competitors must sign in, obtain a scorecard, and pay the appropriate entry fee (generally in the Professional’s shop).

2. Any competitor who books a starting time for a competition and then does not turn up at the due time without notifying his/her playing partners and the Professional’s shop in advance, may be suspended from subsequent competitions under the Club’s “No-shows” policy.

3. On completion of their round, competitors must deposit their scorecard in the official scorecards box; at this point they are deemed to have returned the card and no changes can be made to it.

4. The results of the competition will be processed by the Matches & Competitions Committee and published on the Club website; at this point the competition is closed and the results are final.
