Men's Invitation Day Saturday 9th July Rules

Competition eligibility

1. You are eligible to enter Invitation Days if you are:
• a playing male member of the Club with amateur status (excluding 5 day and weekday members) aged 18 or over on the date of the competition, provided you hold a Handicap Index under the World Handicap System, or
• a Junior male member, provided you hold a Handicap Index of 28.6 or below. However, such junior members may enter Invitation Day 2 only, but only if places are available three weeks after online booking of tee times has commenced, and only in the same team as an adult Club member.

2. In addition to holding a Handicap Index, you must have submitted a minimum of three Acceptable Scores during the previous 12 months prior to the date of the competition. An Acceptable Score is a score for a round played in accordance with the Rules of Golf, in an authorised format of play, with at least one other person who also has a Handicap Index, on a course with a current Course Rating and Slope Rating. Authorised formats of play include all individual qualifying competitions, and pre-registered "social scores" in General Play, whether they are played at YGC or elsewhere.

3. Guests must be male members of other recognised golf clubs and must also hold a Handicap Index, evidence of which may be required.

4. Play to be in teams of four, consisting of two Club members and two guests.

Competition format

1. Stableford over 18 holes. Play to be off the white tees, starting from the 1st tee only.

2. Each competitor’s Playing Handicap (for the purpose of deciding the competition’s results) will be 85% of his Course Handicap.

3. The best two scores (Stableford points) on holes 1,3,4,5,6,8,9,10,12,13,14,15,16; and all four scores on holes 2,7,11,17 & 18 count towards the team score - the relevant gross scores must be recorded for each hole.

4. The Prize Presentation will take place as soon as possible after the completion of play. It is anticipated that this will be no later than 7.30pm. The two York Golf Club members of any prize-winning team are expected to attend the Prize Presentation. Failure to do so may result in the prize being awarded to the next team in line.

Procedure in the event of ties

All ties will be resolved on the last 9 - 6 - 3 - 1 holes. (Should this still result in a tie, scores for the last 10 - then 11 then 12 and so on - holes will be counted until a result is achieved.)

General competition rules

1. Before playing in the competition, all competitors must sign in, obtain a scorecard, and pay the appropriate entry fee (generally in the Professional’s shop).

2. Any competitor who books a starting time for a competition and then does not turn up at the due time without notifying his playing partners and the Professional’s shop in advance, may be suspended from subsequent competitions under the Club’s “No-shows” policy.

3. The results of the competition will be processed by the Matches & Competitions Committee and published on the Club website; at this point the competition is closed and the results are final.
